Background of Mf Doom
MF Doom’s real name was Daniel Dumile, he was born on July 13, 1971, in the United Kingdom. He started his career in rapping in the year 1988, as a part of the KMD trio. The band was later disbanded after the death of one band member who was also, MF Doom’s brother, Dj Subroc.
MF Doom started his solo career in the late 1990s after KMD was disbanded. He was an influential person in the hip-hop industry and was well-known for his songs like Doomsday, all caps, etc.
The Death of Mf Doom
MF Doom’s wife explained that the rapper had been suffering from multiple health conditions like kidney disease and high blood pressure. His health issues caused him to gain weight and have anxiety.
To treat his medical conditions, he was put on angiotensin-converting-enzyme (ACE) inhibitors. Especially to control his blood pressure. But life had other plans, shortly after taking the second dose of ACE inhibitors he developed a severe adverse reaction.
He started having difficulty in breathing and had a swollen tongue and throat. This condition is also known as angioedema. After the reaction, he was rushed to the ER in the St. James Hospital in Leeds.
Jasmine Dumile, MF Doom’s wife also reported that she was unable to meet him at the hospital due to the covid restrictions. He was admitted for almost more than 10 days and she was not allowed to visit him till the October 31st. On that same day, he was taken off of the respirators that were helping him breathe because the doctors at his hospital decided there was no hope for his recovery.
MF Doom’s Cause of Death
The doctors after noticing the swelling of Doom’s throat and tongue, declared that his cause of death was angioedema, which is a rarely occurring side-effect of ACE inhibitors. Angioedema is similar to hives but the only difference is that it is not visible on the skin.
There were a few questions raised regarding the competency of hospital staff in providing care to the rapper. Jasmine’s legal team is allegedly questioning how frequently medical professionals at St. James Hospital in Leeds examined him and why there was a claimed two-hour delay in providing him treatment for throat swelling.
However, some reporters also reported that Doom’s condition was being continuously monitored by healthcare professionals, and he was said to be showing signs of improvement as well. Such as increased oxygen levels and being able to communicate with doctors.
The Announcement of Death
In December 2020, Jasmine finally took to her Instagram and announced the dismissal of her husband while remembering him in loving words.
She wrote, “To Dumile, The greatest husband, father, teacher, student, business partner, lover and friend I could ever ask for. Thank you for all the things you have shown, taught, and given to me, our children, and our family. Thank you for teaching me how to forgive beings and give them another chance, not to be so quick to judge and write them off. Thank you for showing me how not to be afraid to love and be the best person I could ever be. My world will never be the same without you.”
